Ceiling Fan Installation in Brisbane & Logan
Licensed electricians installing and replacing ceiling fans across Brisbane and Logan, including new wiring where no existing point exists.
A Brisbane summer is no joke. Run a good ceiling fan all day and it costs you next to nothing next to what the aircon pulls. Out here in the Centenary corridor, that shows up on the power bill quick.
Maybe you want a straight swap. Maybe the room has never had a fan and you want one. Maybe an old fan wobbles like a washing machine on spin. We do the lot.
What We Do
We install, replace and rewire ceiling fans in homes across Brisbane and Logan. That covers:
- Swap-outs on an existing fan outlet, the most common job we get
- First-time installs where there is no point at all, including running new cable and putting in a wall switch
- Remote and smart-switch setups
- Sorting out a fan that wobbles, rattles or shakes
Every job is done to AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules. New wiring gets a certificate of compliance. No exceptions.
Signs You Need a New Fan or Wiring
Your fan wobbles at any speed. That is a loose mount, an out-of-balance blade, or both. Leave it and it chews up the ceiling rose, then eventually the wiring behind it.
The room has only a light point. Lights and fans do not share a circuit. A sparky needs to check whether your light circuit can carry a fan or whether you need fresh wiring run in.
The fan hums or cuts out. Older AC motors do that. A DC fan fixes the noise and drops what it costs to run.
You are adding a room or a rumpus and want the airflow sorted before the gyprock goes up.
DC vs AC Fans: What Actually Matters
AC fans are cheaper to buy. They push plenty of air and they are fine for most swap jobs.
DC fans cost more off the shelf but use roughly 70% less power. Run a fan 8 to 10 hours a day through a Brisbane summer and that gap stacks up. DC motors run quieter too, and most come with more speed settings and a remote in the box.
Bedroom or a room you live in? Spend the extra on DC. Laundry or garage? AC will do you fine.
What Is Involved in a New Install
No existing point means the job runs like this:
- Check the ceiling structure and the clearances (blades need 300 mm to the ceiling and 2.1 metres to the floor)
- Run cable from the nearest suitable circuit or the switchboard
- Fit a wall switch and a fan-rated outlet
- Mount the fan and balance it
- Test it and hand you a certificate of compliance
You get a fixed quote before a single wire gets touched.
Honest Cost Factors
Straight swap on an existing point sits at the lower end. Often done inside an hour.
A new cable run depends on how far the cable has to travel, what the ceiling is made of (plasterboard runs easy, concrete does not), and how tight the access is. Double-brick walls take longer to cable through, so they cost more.
A smart or remote setup, or a three-speed wall controller, adds a bit on top.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a ceiling fan myself? No. In Queensland, wiring a ceiling fan into your home is electrical work, and that has to be done by a licensed electrician. Do it yourself and you void your home insurance. It is also illegal.
How long does a fan installation take? A straight swap on an existing point usually runs 45 to 90 minutes. A full new install with wiring takes two to three hours, depending on the house.
My fan wobbles. Do I need a new one? Not always. Blade pitch imbalance and loose mounting brackets are fixable without binning the whole unit. We check both before we tell you to replace it.
