Forest Lake went up in a hurry. Most of the estate was built between the mid-1990s and the early 2000s, master-planned around the lake in one big push. That means a lot of the houses share the same age, the same builder-grade fit-out, and now the same problems. The wiring that was fine on handover day is twenty-odd years old.

What we see in these homes

Brick and tile, single or double storey, built to the standard of the day. Nothing wrong with that. But a few things haven’t aged well.

Switchboards. Plenty of Forest Lake homes still run the original builder board, ceramic fuses, no RCDs, sometimes one circuit feeding half the living area. That’s a safety problem first. It’s also why the power trips the moment you add a second split system or run the dishwasher and the kettle together.
