Electrician in Sinnamon Park
Sinnamon Park is younger than most people think. It was only cut out of Seventeen Mile Rocks in 1989, and the house numbers doubled between the early 90s and the mid-2000s. So you get two distinct types of home here. The Jennings estate homes that went up through the 80s, and the newer, pricier builds in the Windermere pocket east of the Centenary Bridge.
Different ages, different wiring, different problems. We’re in Middle Park, a few minutes up the road, so we see plenty of both.
Older estate homes: start at the switchboard
The 80s Jennings builds and anything around them often still run an old switchboard. Ceramic fuses, or an early board with no safety switch on half the circuits. QLD rules now want RCDs on all power and lighting circuits, so if your board hasn’t been touched since the place was built, you’re behind.
There’s a load problem too. None of these homes were wired for what a family runs now. Two or three split systems, an induction cooktop, a car charging in the garage, someone working from the spare room. The old board wasn’t built for that.
A switchboard upgrade swaps the old board for a modern one with safety switches, and sizes the circuits to what you actually use. Not flashy. Just the thing that makes everything else safe and legal.
Windermere and the newer builds: aircon and EV
The newer homes east of the bridge are wired better, but they get asked to do a lot. We install and certify split-system aircon across these places. New runs, swap-outs for a dead unit, and multi-head systems for the bigger two-storey houses.
EV chargers come up constantly. The Centenary Motorway sitting right on the doorstep makes this a commuter suburb, and a lot of those commutes are now electric. Aircon and EV charging work has to be done by a licensed sparky with the right certificate. It isn’t a plug-it-in-and-go job, whatever the box says.
The everyday stuff, old homes and new
Across the whole suburb we do a steady run of power point and ceiling fan work. GPOs in a garage that’s become a gym or a workshop, USB points by the bed, a weatherproof outlet for the back patio, fans in the rooms that cop no breeze come February. Small jobs. Worth getting right the first time.
Tripping a lot? Have a read of why your power keeps tripping before you assume it’s the worst.
Close enough to actually be close
Middle Park to Sinnamon Park is a five-minute drive, not a cross-town haul. If something turns up mid-job, we’re not losing half a day to the motorway to grab a part. Folks in Jindalee, Westlake and Jamboree Heights call us for the same reason.
